The waves are always surging in Australia, where big waves flap along the three coastlines. But the surfing competition only really heated up between February and April when Australia hosted the World Qualifiers. At the Surfest competition, they demonstrated their skills on the right-hand waves of Mereweather Beach in Newcastle. The Margaret River is the unofficial venue for the professional surfing competition at the Drug Aware Pro. Surfer then head to the iconic Bells Beach for the Rip Curl Pro. You will be amazed by the spectacular surf, then to the parties and music festivals, or take the time to explore some of Australia’s iconic beaches.

Quicksilver Pro Gold Coast, Queensland

Soak up the hilarious atmosphere on Gold Coast beach in the half-month Quicksilver Pro competition. The competition kicked off the World Series at the end of February. Surfers and fans alike loved the event, for the expected atmosphere as well as the white sands, world-famous repertoire and a fun party scene.

 This is where the former world champions won the glory and the famous surfers launch to win the upcoming world title. Watch them rehearse movements at Kirra, Broadbeach and the legendary Snapper Rocks Superbank, which has the longest waves in the world. This event has a major impact on the tournament, with the Gold Coast champions always dominating in the finals in Hawaii.

Surfest tournament, New South Wales

Head to Merewether Beach in Newcastle, two hours north of Sydney, to take part in the Surfest competition in early March. Born in 1985 to promote the beautiful surf beaches of Newcastle, where the Surfest competition has become Australia’s largest surfing festival.
